Inspired by the Cosmatesque style of the pavements of Roman basilicas, the Living Chapel is set in the Calderini garden in continuity with the remains of the Casa dei Cori entrance portico. There was once a 15th-century dwelling here, probably designed by Bramante and owned by the Corio family. Unfortunately, the building was lost in the bombings of the Second World War. Only a façade that opens the garden remained standing, carried with columns and statues. Beyond the threshold, the project takes shape on the radial symmetry of the circles by drawing a path that in the Living Chapel takes on a precise "sense" in which it echoes the paradigmatic passage underlying the urgency of an "ecological conversion". Such a space embodies the pacific logic of inter-religious dialogue, which induces spiritual reflection and the intimate need for a harmonious connection between Humanity and Nature.
